About Us Interrobang

Wellington Zinefest is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation that hosts two zinefests a year in Wellington (Te Whanganui-a-Tara), Aotearoa.
We also run workshops and events throughout the year to support local zine culture.

Here is a video you can watch:

Who We Are

Bryce Galloway

Bryce Galloway (he/they, Pākehā/Scottish)

Artist | Lecturer | Dad

I’m the old grey zinester on the Wellington Zinefest organising committee. I bring beer. Zines are great, even when they’re bad, they’re still kinda great. When Joseph Beuys said, ‘Everyone is an artist,’ he must have been talking about Zinefest.

Charlotte

Zine-maker | Nerd | Pisces

Do you have 5 minutes to hear about the good word of Zines? My goal is to spread the zine love as far and wide as possible. And being part of the zinefest crew helps me succeed in my mission.

Emma

Emma (she/they, Pākehā/Kāi Tahu)

Amateur archivist | professional heckler

I like ephemera and stuff like zines that people dont always think will last that tells a story about that moment in time. Zinefest is also wholesome as so I like to help make it happen.

lapsed poet | weird intersections | Saggitarius

I got into zines through letterpress and typewriters and oooohing and aaaahing over paper. I love the connections we can form so quickly and so deeply over zines.

Kathleen Winter

Kathleen Winter (she/her, Pākehā/Irish)

Retired filmmaker / Virgo stellium

I love perzines (personal zines) and political zines, they make me feel connected to the human condition, I am part of Zinefest to encourage more people to make and distribute those things that I love.

Burgeoning pocket of constitutional transformation | Vague Artist

I love Zines, I love creativity, and so being a part of Zinefest was the next logical step. It also helps me deal with some of my mental health issues.

Making is one of the most best things we can do with our time, and it fosters such connection! I love making things with friends; with particular adoration for the cheap / niche / weird. I’m part of Wellington Zinefest because I like being a part of helping other people have a space to connect and share beautiful things.

I've organised zinefests for 15 years because I wanna help foster the personal visions of local creators, unmediated by hierarchies above them. I'm also one of theimage04 crew - shining a light on local events in print and radio.

I love zines. They're a creative outlet for so many cool things you might never come across anywhere else. I'm part of Zinefest, because I love the community, and helping have a space where creativity is the focus.

Callum Robertson (he/him, pākehā)

comics artist | brainrot healer

Very simply, if everyone halved their time spent online today, big tech would collapse. When real world communities fill the resulting vacuum, everyone will feel happier and safer.

I like comics. Let's encourage human art and community.
