Class Five

COMICS

Acclaimed comic artist Sally Bollinger shares her process to create comics in this tutorial.

Sally's loaded this video with practical advice, personal experiences and tips to avoid headaches at the printers.

ASSIGNMENT

Try turning an existing story or zine you've worked on into a comic format.

This could just be a page, or you could make a whole zine.

Use this process to consider some of Sally's advice - for example:

- What are the key scenes you need to be representing?

- How can you communicate visually, without relying on dialogue to tell a story?

- What does the world or setting your figures are inhabiting look like?

- Does the process of translating a narrative into a comic form shift the story you want to tell?
