Migrant Zine Collective: 'Together Apart' Workshop

In light of Covid-19, the realities of being in diaspora has amplified for many, whether this be the inability to visit family back home or struggling to stay connected with loved ones in other ways. Together, Apart is a zine workshop which aims to unpack the emotions and interactions migrants of colour had over the past year, and how the pandemic has brought on the need to generate new forms of belonging and solidarities. Participants are invited to bring along screenshots, photos and ephemera they’ve collected over the past year to create and repurpose these into new conversations, connections and creative pieces. The outcome of this project includes the creation of a community zine, which will be circulated in Wellington and Auckland.
