Wellington Zinefest 2025

4 October - 5 October 2025

Accessibility hour: 11am - 12pm

12pm - 4pm

Victoria University School of Architecture

139 Vivan St, Te Aro, Wellington

Wellington Zinefest is hosting their annual two-day zine festival to celebrate the thriving zine scene here in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

We're open to the public from 12 til 4 on Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 at Te Aro Campus of Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka - 139 Vivian street.

Each day we'll have sixty+ unique stalls, loaded with self-made zines, comics, prints, and trinkets. Wellington Zinefest markets are free to attend, make sure you bring cash to buy zines tho!

We'll have our beloved community table and trading post running too!

From 11am to 12pm each day we'll run 'accessibility hour'. This is a chance for any visitors who can't attend when Zinefest is crowded. We'll have no music and try to maintain a low-stimulation environment.

We have a record 120 stalls this market weekend, and can’t wait for the incredible creativity and magic!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Always ask people before you take their photo, and respect their response. We like to create a welcoming, and comfortable space for everybody.

Ps… Let’s keep trading!

We received heaps of positive feedback after our winter ‘Trade Wars’ Market, so lets keep the spirit of trading going at this upcoming market. Trading stickers will be available again.

Some fav trades we heard about from the last market:

-- a handmade worm on a string badge that said 'eat the rich'

-- a sylvanian family doll lobster dressed as a lobster

-- a lip balm and two mini tubes of toothpaste

-- lemons, mandarins
-- pretty rocks and gemstones

--  a delicious sesame-seed bun, a kid's hand-drawn comic full of motorbikes and explosions that he'd kept rolled up in his jacket, and a perler-bead octopus

-- some practice pieces of pottery

-- a choice between a hand made pan flute, or a signed copy of Taika Waititi’s Boy on DVD

Reminder about changes to Community Table

The beloved Community Table will be back for our two day market this October, but with a few changes!

  1. Drop off any zines for the community table on Friday 3rd between 4-5pm, Saturday 4th between10-11am and Sunday 5th between 10-11am.

  1. Payment/purchases: When you drop off, be sure to fill out a payment sheet incl price and a bank account for payment - all purchases will go straight into your designated account to keep things easy for our volunteers and to cut out accounting admin. No cash will be handled at the community table this year, and all sales will go through designated bank accounts (not ZF).

  2. Pick up: Be sure to pick up any remaining zines at the end of the day, the weekend OR at the afterparty the following Friday.  Any remaining zines will enter our Zinefest stash!
